Men Vs. Women in Advertisements Essay - 741 Words

Men Vs. Women and Advertisements Since the emergence of advertising in American culture one thing that has remained constant is the visible truth that men and women are portrayed differently. In consideration to the evolution of man kind gender roles have evolved immensely throughout time, although advertisements have not kept up with this process of evolution. Companies to this day use their tactics and skills to reach out to specific genders such as pretty fonts with a stylish message, while advertisements towards men portray the character as strong and intimidating. Consumers of an advertised product have been subjected to years of ads that portray men as Gods, so naturally that is what they look for in the newest ads. For example advertisements for protein shakes use men that have exceptional muscle tone and muscle mass. All the advertisement shows is that person drinking the shake and not all the hours they put in at the gym, or years of working out they have gone through to get to that size and tone. A great textual example of this would be from Steve Craig about Men’s Men and Women’s Women â€Å" Men and women both drink beer, but you wouldn’t guess that from the television ads that pitch beer as a guy beverage.† (Craig 187). Where in this example the beer Craig talks about is protein shakes. In the advertisements for Muscle Milk and N.O. X-PLODE, they use men that are extremely built and outrageously strong. From those commercials you would not think that women drink those protein shakes but in reality they do, it is just a miniscule market compared to the market for men. Advertisers look out for one thing. Ways to get more customers. The use of protein shakes or anything fitness related is stereotypical to the division of gender roles. Political Corruption By Government Officials For...

Throughout history, several sovereign nations across the world have been subject to political corruption by government officials for illegitimate personal gain. Corruption used to be a low profile line item. However, today it has reached heights at which the government must get involved to try and cover it up to ensure its secrecy and avoid exploitation. This instance is referred to as Crony Capitalism, which is a theory that has evolved from corruption over a period of time. This idea involves more intervention by the government who achieves its purpose by providing incentives and subsidies to their known business partners in specific operating fields. They favour this particular set of business owners who they keep close ties with over†¦show more content†¦They drift away from the rule of law which they themselves have established to maintain social control over their country. The government chooses to monopolize over businesses in pursuit of getting a larger share of mon ey. However, most of the time these turn into sunken costs, which they then try to cover by raising tax rates. Countries that were regarded as miracles are nothing more than havens now, for crony capitalists to get rich the easy way (Kang, 3). An example of this is in Canada, where a big incentive in the form of tax credit is given to the Film Producing Industry. The government has been providing tax payers’ money and direct subsidies in an effort to induce film production in their province. Currently, film and television tax credits cover up to 35% of labour costs all over Canada, except for Quebec where it covers up to 45%. This does not include the additional tax credits that are provided to cover up the total production costs. In Alberta, the film and television industry demanded $18 million for a project worth $32 million of building a film studio in Calgary. The government has provided them with $10 million from property tax which means that the remaining $22 million w ill be obtained from taxpayers at their cost. The film industry in Alberta claims that this is beneficial since every buck that taxpayers contribute towards subsidies will result in a 10 fold return to the economy. This demonstrates how Crony

Project Management Fundamentals Reflective Study †Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the Project Management Fundamentals Reflective Study. Answer: Project managementis a discipline of making plan and execution of tasks. In addition, controlling as well as closing of the work in order to reach particular goals as well as encounter certain criteria of success. In other words, project is one of the temporary endeavors that is designed for generating unique product or service. Moreover, project management is usually undertaken for meeting unique target as well as objectives of the organization. However, it brings beneficial change and adds value to the organization. There are repetitive, permanent as well as semi-permanent functional activities in order to generate products and services. However, I have faced several challenges duringproject management in order to reach the target of the organization within provided constraints. The information can be generally explained in user or manual of project. It is created at the starting phase of development. The basic constraints are opportunities, time and quality along with budget. On the other hand, optimizing the allocation of essential inputs as well as integration for meeting pre-defined objectives is included under secondary constraints. There are several approaches followed for project management. In traditional concept, five developmental elements of project such as starting, planning and design, executions as well as construction, monitoring as well as controlling systems along with the completion of the project are included. However, variations of project stages are seen in different industries. PRINCE2 is one of the structured approaches to the project management. It has been considered as generic project management method. However, it emphasizes on defining successful project as it is output oriented. On contrary, critical change project management is one of the methods about planning as well as managing execution of the project in order to deal with the uncertainties. I have learnt the use of critical chain management for projecct that helps me to improve efficiencies in flow of the projects. In addition, understanding of this approach helps me to exploit the constraints, tasks as well as critical chain that p rovide opportunity to ensure that the resources are efficiently addressed. On the other hand, project leadership is a quality for communicating with the people at each level. I have gained knowledge regarding efficient project leadership. A project leader needs to be good communicator. There are great deals of value that are placed on openness as well as directness. Thus, project leader needs ability to effectively negotiate as well as utilize persuasion when essential for ensuring success of the team as well as project. In addition, integrity is one of the most important approaches need to be incorporated by project leader. Being a good leader, it is required to have commitment towards project as well as demonstration of ethical practices. In addition, creating standards for having ethical behavior for team is required being a good leader in project. It is also important to reward team members who contributes good in the project. Leadership is motivated. Hence, positive attitude towards work is required to be a good and efficient leader. In addition, enthusiasm for work contributes good outcome in project. Confident commitment towards the project can be useful for gaining expected result. Moreover, being a good leader it is important to plan the project properly with time constraints and execute the plan effectively. It is also important to be updated with latest approaches and technology used by other organizations that will give competitive advantages in the market. On the other hand, competencies in project management act as a set of knowledge and personal behavior as well as skills along with experience. Thus, it is required to acquiring different types of components within different areas such as contextual, technical as well as behavioral. In this perspective, a system for evaluation need to be developed along with levels of competences that need to be defined within the process of certification. In last few years project management obtained popularity in most of the organizations. The increasing number of projects as well as programs and portfolios are required to be professionally managed. Hence, it becomes essential to improve knowledge and have competent project managers as well as associates able to cope with the issues, which are occurring inside the organization. Performance of a project or an organization can be improved through learning in several ways. In order to improve knowledge on project management, action research can be organized on project management. It can improve knowledge using the approach based on event to the integration of project knowledge, which makes propagation of duetero-learning. The particular approach can be established through generating results, which codify the lessons learnt as well as do promotion on the measurement of getting advantages. In addition, the events as well as outputs can take form of the boundary objects, which act like bri dge and help to enhance knowledge regarding project management. The procedure utilizes the concept of boundary objects for explaining the process of arising issues during complex situations and able to overcome the situations as well. The learning style helps me to increase the comprehension of identifying the factors and participants involved in the project. In addition, viewing the learning events as the boundary objects help to watch them like mediating information around the boundary of project between practitioners of project as well as across the business units. Thus, processing of event can be adapted through variety of scenarios and using organizations as well as group of organizations in order to enhance and apply thje learning more successfully. The learning procedure of project can be enhanced by utilizing event based approach to the integration of project knowledge, which makes propagation duetero-learning. Moreover, the approach can produce results, which codify the lessons that have learnt and make promotion of measurement of advantages. The event as well as the results can be in effect through taking form of the boundaries objects. The approach assists for overcoming the key issues of obtaining management and staff buy-in as well as dealing with specific time that exists in the project-based environments. Results are implemented in order to encourage learning across the projects as well as wider communities that results in enhanced practices. However, there are some limitations in the style of learning and improving my knowledge regarding project management that is why I dislike one thing in the learning style. The particular approach can only be applied within the single support services enterprise. However, it can provide a way for overcoming the considerable difficulties inherent for capturing the lessons learned with the environment based on project. Therefore, I cannot apply my knowledge of project management in the organizations that are based on multiple support services. It is required to consider different approach of learning of project management and implement that in managing project, As internet and social media is increasing in rapid way. I would like to research on the learning style and enhancing my knowledge with the help of social media and internet. Social media obtained rapid prominence of its existence. Now, it is considered as one of the important and essential mediums to socialize and gained knowledge in several fields through transformation of communication procedure. As the web interfaces are now used to inform people regarding a project organization, it becomes essential to access the interfaces. However, there are some limitations like inappropriate information and security. Thus, research would be helpful to understand the appropriateness of the learning style at present scenario.
